Costs outside the fee

Discovery participant incentives. Where needed, scoped and agreed in advance and charged at cost.

A Miro plan on your own account. Some exercises run better on a board whether or not your team is in the same room. A free trial, timed to your dates, covers the week.

Included

All of discovery, including user research, the full week workshop including the held Saturday, all preparation and analysis, every output, the follow-on material where you need it, with the post-week support of both reviews. Where the week runs in person, the workshop space as well.

The fee is the same whether the week runs here or remotely. In person is what we recommend and remote is available.

Where you come to us, flights, accommodation and dinners are yours, and food during the week is ordered in and billed at cost.

Payment terms

50% on confirmation of dates. This is the discovery fee. Discovery begins on receipt and its outputs are yours.

50% ten business days before the first workshop day.

Reschedule

One reschedule at no cost, and the first payment carries to the new dates.

If the move pushes the week more than eight weeks past the original dates, discovery is partly re-run for half the original deposit. It is not a penalty. Your funnel, runway and roadmap at two months are different numbers, and discovery against a company that has since moved is not discovery.

A second move cancels the booking, and a new one is a fresh engagement.

Unpaid balance

The dates are released and the first payment is claimed. The discovery outputs are yours to keep in full.

Independence

Two rules that cost us money, and are the reason the advice is worth having.

Do you also work with our competitors?

No. We will not run a workshop or hold an advisory appointment with a business that competes directly with you, for the length of your engagement and for six months after the last day of your week. Where we are also your advisor, that six months runs from the end of that relationship instead.

Direct competition means serving substantially the same primary customer with substantially the same primary offering. Operating in the same sector, or on the same technology, is not by itself direct competition.

Where the position is arguable, you decide. We tell you before accepting the other appointment, and we will not accept it if you object.

While we are working with you, nothing is waivable. For as long as your engagement runs, and for as long as we advise you, we will not take on a direct competitor. Counsel cannot be divided between two competing companies, and nor can a room.

The six months after our engagement is yours to release. If we ask and you have no objection, tell us in writing and we will proceed. We will never treat silence as consent, and we will never ask before your own scheduled workshop week has happened.

The reason for the rule is that discovery is total. Financials, roadmap, metrics, user research, and what each of your team privately thinks. Once we have held that about your company we cannot un-know it, and even with scrupulous behaviour a competitor would benefit.

Will you take tokens or equity as payment?

No, and the reason is one we hope you want to hear. Being paid in your tokens or your equity changes where an adviser's attention goes, and which client gets it. It does that whether the price is rising or falling.

Optimising the price of an asset is not the same work as building the company underneath it. We would rather your token or your equity does well because the business underneath it grows, and that is the only version that survives contact with a market. Taking a position puts our incentive on the opposite side of everything the week is for.

We charge a fee, and it is identical for every client in the same segment. We hold no position in any client's tokens, shares or other securities, however acquired, and that is what keeps the advice worth having.
